Halloween is nearly here and although things look very different this year, it can still be a night of frightful fun! For those that are trick-or-treating, you may be mentally preparing yourself for a lot of walking, but are your feet and back ready? Here are some of our tips to prevent back pain as you and your family take off for a night of trick-or-treating.

BRING A STROLLER FOR LITTLE MONSTERS

As a parent coming to Shields Chiropractic, you may already know some tips for avoiding back pain, so don’t forget that stroller! Being on your feet for long periods of time can be tough on adults, and even more so for small children. Strollers are great for preventing back pain when your little one just doesn’t want to walk anymore. Rather than assume your child can trek from house to house collecting candy, do yourself (and your back) a favor and bring the stroller.

PICK COMFORTABLE KICKS

You might be dressed up in your best costume to date, but don’t let your footwear be forgotten. When you hit the trick-or-treating trail, you’ll want to be in supportive and comfortable shoes. If you wear shoes that later your stride, you can cause pain or even injury to your spine. One of the best ways to prevent back pain this Halloween is to make sure your feet are comfortable. When planning your costume, make sure it includes a comfortable part of shoes for your trek through town.
